Artist Recognition
Artist featured in a collection
This piece was inspired by the true story of Waris Dirie a desert nomad from Somalia, her story highlights various confronting existential issues experienced by many young women the world over. it highlights cultural practices that infringe no the rights of women and young girls not only to choose whom they marry but how to keep their virtue in tact. The practice of of FMCG is both physically and psychologically debilitating. It is my hope that that this piece no only provokes thought but triggers a curiosity to know more about these practices and encourage those from cultures with such practices to speak out.
