About The Artwork
I basically start my work without any goal in mind. The artwork develops through colour, movement, and pattern. The idea, in this case, gelled with the addition of 2 postcards, one of the victory speech of Castro with Che Guevera and Camillo on a podium. This is balanced out with a post card of some nuns smoking cigarettes. The nuances of meaning can be that the Catholic religion lost its power in Cuba when it became communist and also the smoking represents a major crop and industry in Cuba- tobacco, cigarettes and cigars.
