About The Artwork
The Buddhist idea of tathāgatagarbha posits that within each individual, whatever their present form, there is the potential to become enlightened and attain Buddhahood because they contain within them the tathāgatagarbha or womb/embryo of the Buddha. Drumpf Tathāgatagarbha is a watercolour painting which depicts Donald Trump meditating, and having attained the state of enlightenment in the caves of Ellora. The golden sheen emanating from his body communicates the birth of Buddhahood within the tathāgatagarbha of Donald Trump inspite of the ostensible state of depravity he represents as Drumpf or Orange Man. It is a work of optimism in the face of profound fallenness.
