About The Artwork
The original was part of a solo show tribute to my maternal grandmother who lost her battle with Breast Cancer. Titled Ed because my grandpa was named Ed. My grandpa was one of the kindest people. He was a quiet man but had been part of a singing group in his younger years. He had an incredible baritone voice. He’d sing and play the piano or sing and rock my sister when we were kids. It calmed her down. We spent a lot of time with our maternal grandparents. Our parents divorced shortly after Rose was born. Mom worked two jobs to take care of us. My sister has autism and is also an artist.

Although I have drawn most of my life no one seemed to notice until I started to paint. I was off work for a year with a back injury and I started painting as a form of therapy. Painting gave me a sense of peace at a very difficult time. After ten years of painting and selling my work, I took my first painting class in 2005.
