About The Artwork
I was experimenting with watercolour figures, blue angels eventually developed into red flamenco dancers. My art studio is in Spain and I enjoy the locals flamenco concerts and local fiestas where the dresses all come out. Once I have painted the figure in dance, I let go and splash and paint all abstract, to create the frills of the skirts. It's all about the movement of the dress. These painting look good as 3 together, which suggests more of the dance. Flamenco is very emotional and passionate art form, so I try to channel the duende as I paint, to honour this ancient folk dance.
