Ella Fitzgerald is an American jazz singer, (1917 - 1996). She came from a modest background and began singing at a very young age at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York, in 1934. Her solo career began in 1941 and lasted until the early 1980s. She also had a career as an actress in several films from the 1940s to 1960s. During the beginning of her artistic career, she was confronted with discrimination against African-Americans, which mobilized many artists. She is considered, along with Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, as one of the most important and famous jazz singers in the history of this musical genre, with a range of three octaves, remarkable for the purity of her voice and her ability to improvise, especially in scat. Initially nicknamed "The First Lady of Swing ", she inherited the Jazz Royalty title "The First Lady of Song" after the heyday of swing (literally "The First Lady of Song", but often translated as "The Great Lady of Jazz"), with 70 albums sold 40 million copies in a career spanning nearly 60 years, and 14 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy for the crowning achievement of a career.

France
I am a passionate Dutch portraitist who lives and works in France (Blois). I paint personalities and people who touch me, inspired by their talent and vision of life. My paintings are a tribute to these artists of all kinds, authentic, pure and, in my opinion, talented. I started with figurative Portraits. Now I am experimenting with pop art and contrasting colors. I like to work in series: Forever 27, Jazz musicians and singers, Impressionist Painters, Pop Music Stars, French singing and musical artists. I am happy to share these portraits with you and invite you to discover them here.
