About The Artwork

A large portrait of a modern dark-skinned woman in an expressionist style. The sensual portrait in blue-purple shades demonstrates African women's freedom, confidence, and sensuality. ❝EMPOWERED❞ Acting on own authority, representing own interests, having the right to a voice, and being heard - is one of the goals of the women's community, though it is a thing that should become basic, not the one we should fight for. Women used to be underprivileged for so many years, so it may take a lot of time and effort to implement it to life and spread it. Becoming empowered is not a final goal. It is like everyday training that needs to become an everyday routine. It's a step-by-step process of becoming stronger and more confident, controlling one's life, and claiming one's rights. The other field of conscious work for people who were disadvantaged in the past is empowering others who are disadvantaged today, including all beings, not only people. ♥︎ JOIN ME on Instagram @annamiklashevich

Anna is an experienced Ukrainian artist based in Slovenia. Her paintings have been exhibited in Ukraine, Slovenia, the United States, and Switzerland. The painting ”Let Me Be Myself” became the cover of the book ”Sensual Faith” by Lyvonne Briggs. Her figurative works have been portraying women's dignity and role for a few years. While exploring this problem, Anna strengthened her will and determination to focus on the global theme of inequality and injustice, which gradually emerged in her recent works.
