Lao Tzu is considered the founder of Taoism. This piece is inspired by a quote of his, 'to the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.' The painting is meant to represent mental/spiritual projection. In other words, the scene is not real, it is in the monks' own mind. This is reflected in the degradation of structure further away from the monk. Additionally, this painting contains a lot of silver enamel. When under sufficient light, it sparkles. Emphasising the dream state of the image. This painting is on canvas but has not been stretched over a frame. Therefore, it can be shipped rolled in a tube.
