About The Artwork
Watercolor and ink on paper. This is number 20 in my Entanglement series of watercolor and ink paintings on paper. The series is all about the relationship between color and line in all over compositions where the various forms of line are generally unrestricted. This is a particularly vibrant member of the series with nice bright primary colors and hints of lovely greens and pinks. I'm starting to play with the idea of structure in these paintings. Here the black lines are almost like a scaffolding. I read an upward motion from the bottom right curving up the tangle of black lines up to the upper left and thrusting the gaze up into space with a nice landing pad in the middle right.

Blake Brasher is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Lowell, MA. He grew up In North Pole, Alaska, and also lived in Turkey, Texas, and Arizona before moving to Massachusetts to attend MIT. He earned a bachelor of science I. Art and design from MIT in 2003 and has also studied art at Harvard and CMU. He also works three days a week as a robotics engineer for Boston Dynamics in Waltham, MA and had a decade long career as a living statue in Harvard Square, Cambridge and other venues around the world.
