About The Artwork

Original painting by Irene Makarova. My works are in many collections around the world. THE WORK IS NOT FOR SALE NOW AS IT PARTICIPATES IN THE FRINGE ART BATH FESTIVAL (BATH, UK) FROM 22 MAY TO 12 MAY 2023 The painting was born as my strong desire and need to express a deep state inspired by the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Only those who can look into the most terrible and deep depths of themselves can bring to light their living soul, their ability to insight, creativity, and meaning. But it is terrible to stumble into the depths of your own darkness. Something must happen that involves pain, loss of support, and the inability to take the next step. You have to step on a snake and be bitten in the heel to perform a great feat. To look into the very darkness of the very darkness. But the main thing is not to look back at the border between light and dark... Oil on canvas One-of-a-kind artwork Size: 50х100 cm (unframed) Depth: 2 cm This artwork is sold unframed. The painting is signed on the front and also titled and signed on the back. The painting comes with the Certificate of Authenticity. To ship the canvas it is removed from the bars and shipped in the tube. When received you just have to take it to your local framers to get it stretched on the bars again. This is how the delivery is safer and cheaper for a painting of this size. If you are willing to receive this painting already stretched and ready to hang (IT IS POSSIBLE!!!), please inform the Saatchi team BEFORE purchasing to discuss the shipping price! Thank you for your interest in my art!

Irene Makarova was born in Moscow, Russia, and currently lives and works in London, UK. Since 2005, she studied painting in the studio of the Russian artist Konstantin Kaufman. She graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute in 2008, and then she took an Art course at Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Surikov. She joined the International Art Foundation in 2008. She prefers to work in oil and often uses open colours in her artwork. Irene mostly creates expressive figurative art. The form and relationships between different forms and figures set a huge field of interpretation through different historical and mythological contexts. Irene's paintings are born in her inner world through observation and experience of the surrounding life. Irene's art was influenced by the pictorial language of the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century and the work of German expressionists, as well as by Bosch, Giotto, El Greco, and Modigliani. Irene has participated in more than 60 exhibitions in Russia and Europe. Her works are in private collections in England, Scotland, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and the USA.
