About The Artwork
I am inspired by nature and enjoy hiking. Past masters like Paul Signac for his patterns and use of color and Henri Rousseau for his strong narratives also inspire me. There is always a lot of patterns within forms in my work. The use of detail is embedded in my style. I have worked with acrylic and oil for over 3 decades. I am a storyteller in paint and to me there is always a narrative. The birds tell a story of co-existence, faith and love.

My new bird series is polar opposite to my previous works. For three decades I created works about people, diversity, unity, communal exchange, and the news. As an LA native I spent my time sketching people in places of communal exchange. Barbershops, cafes, the LA art scene and even while riding the metro encompassed my world. The seismic shift taking place due to the political environment gender, identity, economics and Covid 19 changed my perspective.Now I seek serenity in nature preferring to draw and paint birds in different narratives. The birds bring me peace where the world can not.
