About The Artwork

Inanimate objects sparked into movement by an invisible spirit. All things, creatures, plants and objects alike that come out of this world are imbued with a life force. All things come out of nothingness, a vessel full of potential Everything is emptiness is a positive statement that frees us from the shackles we bind ourselves with to this world. All of creation has manifested out of the void. We create meaning in order to help us understand this world we find ourselves in. We decide that a pile of rocks is an alter to worship, when in reality, it is just a pile of rocks. Here I have chosen a pile of tires. I have been wrestling with the idea of the void in my work for a very long time and I feel that this painting is the closest I have come. A landfill of tires imbued with a spirit. Beautiful rubbish.

I have been drawing since kindergarten and learned to paint during my higher education. I started out as an abstract painter, but decided I was better served working within the classical genres. This provided me with a rule against which to measure my progress which helped improve my technical reach. My style eventually evolved into a mingling of my abstract tendencies with my representational work. I will often paint a subject in legion, crowding off the edges of the canvas. This serves to illustrates the dynamic of opposites such as the individual vs. the communal and randomness vs. order.
