About The Artwork

The title “Faded” was created when I was developing the composition for this painting. Originally the figure and the background was going to be faded together with lots of subtle tone. That didn’t happen so the title really doesn’t match. Regardless I’m going to keep the title as is because I really don’t like coming up with a title after the face. It seems forced. I want the motive for the painting to start at the beginning and be there before the painting is even started. Everything should grow from the motive. The real motive behind this painting is all about the texture and skin. I want to breath as much life into it as possible. For some reason I’m always thinking of Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam on the Sistine Chapel when I look at this painting. Strange that he depicted the scene with two men when the creation of life is the domain of women… See the complete process of creating this painting here: https://chrisbeaven.com/painting/faded/

I'm an artist with a goal to do art every single day for the rest of my life. My biggest regret is not doing art for more than 5 years and losing most of my skill. But, since January 2013 I've committed to daily art and have now passed 10 years of art every day. Over 3560 days straight I've done something, at least 30 minutes, and I've documented the entire journey on my website. (chrisbeaven.com) I want to be a light of inspiration and show other artists they can do the same. They can achieve their dreams through consistent daily practice. I put my heart and soul into my paintings and I hope it shows. My purpose is to communicate the beauty of the human figure and show the authenticity and complexity of humanity.
