Born: 1965, Arnhem Netherlands Working in Amsterdam and living in Nigtevecht, The Netherlands. After finishing her Master in Economics in 1989 she started as a Management Trainee at de Bijenkorf Department Stores in Buying and Merchandising. Until 2005 she worked in several roles within different categories with a successful track record. Travelling has always been part of her job and this international experience is reflected in her work. In 2004 she decided to follow her heart and apply for the Rietveld Academy to become a professional artist. In her work she analyses, modifies and structures photographic material, digitally or manually in order to understand the world. She often uses her own photographs or found footage as a platform to create new intriguing images which clearly reflects her painting background. Her work is conceptual and sometimes engaged. She pairs the use of advanced digital technics with traditional painting, drawing and collage technics. The main subjects in her work are humanity, nature and landscapes. For her, landscapes are the embodiment of the sublime and the human. In her opinion landscapes characterise our time, with strong connections to the past and the future; they give structure to the world.
