About The Artwork

There are some moments in our life when reminiscing is so pleasant that you want to bring your past back. And by mysterious coincidence sometimes your past itself knocks on your door. And at that very moment when it’s standing on your porch uninvited, and you see what the future may bring you two, you understand that you’ve already said goodbye, you’ve left your past in the past. And the only thing you can do now is to wish all the best (12 magpies symbolize numerous good wishes), love and happiness (bamboo) to each other, as time has already filled the void (strelitzia flower is a symbol of rich life).

May Hope was born in Odessa region, Ukraine. Being constantly inspired by silent woods, breezy waters and ever changing sky, she began to create her first paintings while studying at school. In 2013, she published her own illustrated fairy tales in the student magazine for the first time. Since that year, she has been attending lectures on artistic movements in the city universities and public organizations. After graduating university in 2017 with MA degree, she began studying Art History in Khan Academy, and Mixed Media in Milan Art Institute. Driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide, she paints to make people see what she sees in small mercies and big tragedies of life.
