About The Artwork

We all deserve equal opportunity. Many Arab countries entered the 21st century still clinging to restrictions on woman’s rights to education, work and political activity; issues long since resolved in other parts of the world. As history shows, change takes time, commitment, perseverance and sacrifice. This painting is dedicated to all Arab women past and present who are working to re-define the role of women in the Arab world and beyond.

“I find inspiration in the ability we all have, no matter who we are, to overcome our current circumstances, in order to achieve a life of gratitude, abundance and purpose. My paintings try to reflect the conflicting challenge and beauty of that journey towards greater self awareness.» As a girl growing up in Santa Fe, Argentina, Alina Añon was always drawing and painting. At eighteen, she moved to Buenos Aires where she obtained a degree in Graphic Design. Although she enjoyed her career, what she loved were movies. In her early twenties, she learned about the emerging industry of Visual Effects which was advancing rapidly with the success of movies like Blade Runner and Star Wars. At that moment, she knew she wanted to be a visual effects artist in the film industry. At twenty-five Alina left Argentina and moved to the United States. After obtaining a degree in Visual Effects, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of working in the film industry. Alina started her film career as an apprentice under several of the industry’s top visual effects artists. Her talent led her to become a Lead Concept Artist and Matte Painter with studios like DreamWorks. She is credited with nearly twenty feature films, including some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises such as Fast & Furious, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Her career highlight came in 2013 when she was a Matte Painter for «Life of Pi,» which went on to win ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. Alina would also work on countless commercials and television shows. Today, Alina’s passion for art has come full circle. She is now re-dedicating herself to fine art and working to capture the emotion, conflict and beauty of the world around her. Alina’s work is inspired through her life in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and her frequent travel around the world. Numerous works are in private collections around the world.
