About The Artwork
In 2008, I went through a very difficult period, and painted fencers as a way to remind myself to stay strong. I painted many fencers in all positions and colours. I have always enjoyed watching fencers and studying their movements. I find the clothing, the masks, and the swords aesthetically appealing. The fancy footwork is something to be admired, and reminds me of bygone days when men would fight for their honour.
