ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Last of my presentation of my full work plus presentation-variations for "First Cabin Light 2024", this light color matted, vertical detail from the original feels to me both powerful and soothing. My previously posted vertical detail excerpt variation on the other hand, evoked the dual key words contemplative and energetic. Both combinations are valid to me, from within my same image, evoked simply by a change in colors surrounding the image. I think that speaks to a very special place for color and movement within what we see. It's a special miracle on par with music and dance, and love. Before I go onto more images from Vermont, which began here with my 2016 photo, First Cabin Light, I want to upload a new 24x36 I finished this week, Hugging the Edge of Hope. I'll be having medium-major surgery early next week and I'm unsure if I'll be unable to paint or upload for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. Like beginning a new painting, I may know my preferred colors and general shapes, but I won't know more til the work begins 😊

082124 update - My earliest memories of making art were my early school years, 1st - 3rd grade, watching colors from crayons and watercolors dance with reflections from the light across rough bumpy paper 😊 I'm still working with that fascination, alternating between smooth and rough, lines and blocks of color. It's best to say, at nearly 74 years of age, I'm finally beginning to accept I don't like doing only fields of color, or line-work, or abstract or representational. So here at Saatchi Art, I present my smorgasbord of work in differing mediums or styles - but I do think what has always persisted is - my sense of awe with life - internal, external, and mingled.
