About The Artwork
flying would be nice. A dream of freedom and eternal life. I found the feathers, they give me a touch of bird life. In the picture, the feathers strive for heaven, they rise from the ashes, just as we all strive for higher striving for light! The feathers are here as a symbol of hope, never give up! The picture was made from ashes from my wood-burning stove and from the feathers that I found in the garden in front of the studio. Ash is very sensitive and some crumbs may fall out if transported carelessly. The picture is stretched on a stretcher.

Guenter Rauch is a German artist. his works move between sculpture, drawings, painting and outdoor art projects and take a critical look at the relationships between humans and nature. I was born in the year one after the great war (1946) and have largely lived and worked in and near Kempten im Allgäu, Bavaria. I came to professional art late. 1997 the first exhibition of paintings and objects. Numerous exhibitions with paintings and drawings followed. From 2009 on, turning to outdoor / landart projects with art trails and (peace) installations. Start of the project "PORTA ALPINAE Open the door to another world". A wooden gate symbolizes the transition to another world. 30 installations on German, Austrian, Swiss and Italian mountains generate great media interest. Several documentaries in large TV formats and international press reports. Always accompanying the painting, drawings and objects.
