About The Artwork
Floral flamingos was inspired by a need to provide an illustration for a greetings card in my own personal range of cards. Since then it has been taken up by a US stationery publisher. As an artist, I am always looking at ways of adding new possibilities and interest to subjects that are at first typical. The long necks were perfect for introducing pattern and glorifying the different pink colours of the flamingos. A touch of the unexpected. The crown of flowers and floral bouquets on their backs bring to mind the season of Spring. Painted in watercolour highlighted with gold leaf that has been further tooled, this is a lovely picture that will brighten any room!
