(Was $3510) This oil on canvas with 24 karat gold leaf celebrates Mona Lisa - and the fragments of beauty it has inspired all through the fragments of time. This fragmented portrait continues my endless series of iconic 24K golden portraits. I started painting "iconic portraits" by painting portraits of iconic people and things with a gold leaf background reminiscent of religious icons. My evolution led me in a big loop ending almost to my starting point with one crucial difference - now I paint the background and do the actual portrait in 24 karat gold leaf. Now I am developing the concept even further with fragments of thought. My subjects are iconic people / topics that have had an impact on me or our society. I used pure 24K gold leaf on this painting - it emits a rich brilliance. The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front. The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
