About The Artwork

Freddie Mercury by Hans Veltman, (real name Farrokh Bulsara), was born on September 5, 1946 in Stone Town on the Zanzibar archipelago. A singer-songwriter and musician, he is known the world over for co-founding the rock band Queen. With a passion for music and a good command of a few operatic techniques, he formed his first band, The Hectics, in 1958, when he was just 12 years old. He arrived in England with his family at the age of 17. After playing in a few bands, the young man founded the group Queen with Brian May and Roger Taylor, taking the name Freddie Mercury. A year later, bassist John Deacon joined the band. The band's success began in the mid-1970s and continued through the 1980s, making Queen one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Freddie Mercury, the rocker who loved ballet and opera, gave legendary concerts. On November 24, 1991, at the age of 45, he died of HIV-induced pneumonia. But "The Show Must Go On".

I am a passionate Dutch portraitist who lives and works in France (Blois). I paint personalities and people who touch me, inspired by their talent and vision of life. My paintings are a tribute to these artists of all kinds, authentic, pure and, in my opinion, talented. I started with figurative Portraits. Now I am experimenting with pop art and contrasting colors. I like to work in series: Forever 27, Jazz musicians and singers, Impressionist Painters, Pop Music Stars, French singing and musical artists. I am happy to share these portraits with you and invite you to discover them here.
