ABOUT THE ARTWORK

People often stare at their smartphones while commuting on the crowded train. The people might be working hard every day to stay within the confines of societal expectations, or they may find temporary relief from the stresses of daily life by looking at phones. In the age of AI, it is said that people are becoming victims of the “smartphone brain.” The mechanism that stimulates the brain’s reward center through social media and games, leading to addiction, can result in constant dopamine secretion in the brain, potentially causing desensitization, fatigue, and even depression. While engaging in activities like social media may temporarily satisfy a certain need for approval, many people may not be aware that they are becoming addicted and constantly seeking more. In such moments, we can clear our minds, expand our consciousness, and observe the present moment, and our minds become free as a bird soaring in the sky. The external world appears radiant when we realize that everyone is interconnected and dependent on each other. This artwork shows a girl listening to music, floating in the air, and experiencing inner happiness with a childlike authenticity through mindful awareness. I wish for humanity to detach from AI occasionally, feel the freedom of nature, be able to see the world from the broad perspective of a bird and create a free society.
