The Kohns’ were awarded a Gold Medal of recognition at the Exposition Universelle in 1878. In 1878 The Przewalski's horse also called the Mongolian wild horse or Dzungarian horse, a rare and endangered horse native to the steppes of central Asia, was discovered by Nikolay Mikhaylovich Przhevalsky - a Russian geographer of Polish-Russian origin and a renowned explorer of Central and East Asia.
