About The Artwork

I was inspired to paint this dandelion because of an illustrated talk I gave to a 4H class. I challenged them to ask themselves if they believed the dandelion was a friend or foe? Almost all started out saying Foe. I talked about the dandelion and all the secret benefits it holds, for insects, soil, medicinal and also the fun and joy it brings all ages through it's headbands, blowing puffballs, making wishes, making dandelion soup etc... At the end ALL the kids had decided it was not a bad hated weed afterall and that it was in fact a flower that is our friend! I hope viewers will take a second look at this painting and wonder for a minute about eh secrets that lie behind the ever dreaded dandelion and just awe at it's unique beauty. I love acrylic and it dries quickly for projects I need to move around in a hurry! I love the rich color it mimics like oil. The style seems modern for me, I can see this in a clean crisp room with modern black accents.

Born and raised in Montana, I consider myself an artist honored to document and capture the vast unique qualities that reflect the "Big Sky" state. I see Montana's history and beauty as an endless canvas of opportunity. As a freshman in high school, I was introduced to fine art painting. My instructor, the late Dave Studebaker, was a very talented artist. His inspiration coupled with my love for animals and the beauty of the outdoors opened a desire to create art that would forever influence my life.
