About The Artwork

The Gabriel Mill is a famous mill in the Netherlands as it was painted several times by the Dutch famous painter Gabriel around 1890-1900. On a sunny afternoon I painted in en plein air. The work is framed in a classic guild frame.

As a youngster I spent most of my days drawing. In my teens I switched to digital artwork on my Commodore computer. Then adult life took over... After visiting an open art day, I became enthusiastic about painting and joined the Art Academy in Haarlem. During the education, I discovered the Dutch art of After Nature and spent a lot of time painting en plein air. Nowadays, I paint more expressively, following the colors of the French Fauves and the lines of Van Gogh and Gauguin. Giving the modernistic art a contemporary face, is the goal for me.
