About The Artwork

Following on from a previous painting I sold in 2013 called ""Grunge Pixie"". Painted in my signature style Hair pieces, this one took on a Japanese twist as it developed. Photography was by Ian Gladwyn, the model's name is Ariana. Her arm's were heavily tattoo'd and I decided to go against the current trend for showing these and instead opted to bring the tattoo's, as I saw them, coming away from the body and manifesting themselves as dragon's blending through the hair. Again a large piece standing 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide on 1/2 inch hardboard, with pine frame back attached.

My humble beginings; a boy in Sheffield who liked to doodle. I moved to Wales aged 7 and could never stop drawing anything and everything. Fast forward to 1986 and I left school with only an "O"level art qualification. At this time I was heavily into graffitti, and figurative illustration. I mainly painted privately for family and friends. I worked as a T-shirt and commercial artist for a few years but it held back my passion for creating and subsequently I strayed from art for nearly 13 years; family life and personal commitments took over. 3 years ago my passion returned with a vengeance, and after losing my job, both a nightmare and a god-send, I once again immersed myself into my imagination. I have only recently started to use Paint brushes and Acrylics, combining this with my love of working with wood and inks and my former graffiti style. I have created some refreshing styles of my own, I now work from home, and make all the wood frames and surfaces that I use to paint my signature style, from scratch, sizes range from 20 inches up to 5 foot pieces 2013 is my first year of actually selling commercially. With the freedom that self employment now brings I don't just paint any more, I ENJOY painting like never before, I hope this shows in my current work. All paintings are signed with my Artist tag of "Panik", a name which has stuck with me since the late 80's. I hope you enjoy my creations. I am currently creating work for a solo Exhibition of my work at the Barnabas Art House, Newport, South Wales, U.K. which is to run from early May 2014.
