About The Artwork
"Get Back Up" is about that feeling when life knocks you down. The background feels like it's pushing you down, but you struggle and gather your strength. I have two special needs sons who inspired this work. Life is hard for them. There is lots of movement in this kinetic figure painting, representing the effort and motion in muscle and sinew. Sometimes looking at this painting makes me feel commiseration, like this person really understands how crappy my life is today. Other times I feel inspired to be resilient and keep trying. Acrylic is my favorite medium to work with because it dries quickly, and I get some great textures in the brushstrokes.
