About The Artwork

Thought Patterns explore the inner psyche including the monotonous tasks of everyday life. Using marks and a reduced, neutral palette, the artist delves into thought patterns to question how we connect, respond, and make our mark on the world. Arbel embraces emotional introspection for content; creative expression as dialogue. Pen and ink lines, handmade paper and geometric shapes allow Arbel to express texture and patterns visually in energetic and meditative renderings. The imperfections of the handmade paper and pop of gold illustrate metaphor, transforming sometimes negative energy into something beautiful.

Lori Arbel is an artist, certified teacher, and creativity coach, guiding teens and adults in their journey of self-discovery. Her passion has led her to teach in NYC and Broward County public and private schools, along with community spaces, for the past 18 years. Whether finding joy in the art process or making meaningful connections with students, Lori offers a positive & energetic perspective. Since childhood, she has been creating art for pleasure and to document her surroundings. Later in life, she began using art as a tool to heal. In college, Lori used art to work through the anger and pain of her mom's death, releasing layers of grief. The second time was a year after her daughter's birth. She turned to intuitive painting to sort through the challenging delivery and creative shutdown that followed. Her art helps clear blockages and promote happiness.
