About The Artwork

Inspired by an age old sufi song sung by Saeein Zahoor a folk/sufi singer from the southern most province of Pakistan (Sindh). Among other lyrics the most prominent is the repeated chant of the word "Hu". Which in Arabic means "The Truth" or another word for God / The Devine. In sufi shrines, all across Pakistan, usually these sufi chant songs are means of getting lost in the Devine search. Similar to the dervesh dancers of Turkey. In my painting I have taken the fist letter "H" from the word "Hu" pronounced as "Ha" in Arabic and repeated it like a swarm of birds approaching creating a visual representation of the chant. The golden sun represents the Devine Himself.
