About The Artwork

The inspiration for ‘High Flying Birds’ came from several English stormy coastal visits over the years. Painted on plywood board, using several coats of mixed media to give a unique surface texture and layered effect. The birds were created with a thick silicone-based paint to make them stand proud of the image approximately 2 to 3 mm in places. After drying for several weeks, the sea and birds were finished off with a high gloss varnish ; the sky with a matte varnish. The frame is handmade from softwood by myself, finished with a dark brown matte wood stain, showing off the wood grain to its best effect. Overall, it is in great condition but there is some slight warping/twisting of the frame due to atmospheric conditions and the wood drying over time, which has now settled. It has been a much admired focal point in my family home for the past three years. Clay in one hand and paintbrush in the other, it’s all about the love of creation, passion and diversity. I was born in Merseyside in the 70's, moving as a baby, with my family to Birmingham, England, where I was raised and still live today. From an early age I’ve had a natural ability to paint, draw, sculpt and upcycle. I am passionate about it and the whole creative process of making the viewer feel, igniting their imagination and creating something that is the best it can possibly be; beautiful detailed works of art.
