Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.

This painting eventually evolved to resemble part of the moon suspended in an arcing cosmos of stark black and white. The stack of "boxes" along the left side of the canvas signifies the compulsion to order things, to try and make sense of the abounding paradoxes in life. There's also a large, black tribal-like, shape that serves to root the work. The title "Holding Water" is about our intuition and the sensation of knowing without necessarily being able to explain. It's a peaceful groundless space buoyed by self-trust. On the right side of the canvas is a light pink feminine form resembling a cut out from an angled dress pattern. There's an overall harmony in the marriage of cosmic and architectural; round and grid-like; blue and pink; black and white; stacked and floating.
