I love the sea. I come from the Southern Italian seaside town of Salerno, my hometown. I miss home often, as I work as an artist and travel. Then, at a stage of my life, I realized the truth that home is an inner state. I can feel home where my heart is. Yet, I learnt the importance of keeping in touch, and nourishing our important connection and the family relationships. To help each other out, to listen to each other and to give each other presence and quality time whenever possible. And when not always possible to meet everyone we love in person all the time of the year, we can certainly hope the best for them, call them on the phone, skype with them, send them gifts and especially send them loving vibes and prayers from our hearts. The lighthouse is a very powerful, ancient symbol of home, of finding one's direction in life and in staying always in the light. In this picture, the lighthouse is standing tall and peaceful on the solidity of a rocky cliff, which isn't hard and edged, but it has something soft and home-life in it. It's a returning home, the whole painting is communicating a wish to stay connected to our roots, and also to our inner center, where we can feel all the time and everywhere bliss and where to feel lucky that we are alive, in this time, in this life. The ship is not far from the lighthouse and is pointing towards it, yet we do not know for sure whether the ship is going to enter the harbour or to come to the shore or whether it's only touching by, like saying "hello" and then going on on its journey. It's up to you, the new owner of this marvelous painting, to choose that story. Where does the ship go to after? Maybe it goes to the shore and the captain just goes home to his family who is going to welcome him in a warm, cosy and loving place. Home is near, yes. Let me spill it... I travel and live and work abroad and yes, this painting is full of the love and the peace I feel and the bliss I feel and the luck I feel for having such a lovely family. And the good thing is: they know my love for them. I am so happy that this painting will go to someone's house and participate in the warmth of their home, the warmth I am so lucky to have in my life all the time. Private Collection Jarka.
