About The Artwork
I did this painting of my house I built with my own hands. It is in the most beautiful area of the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa and is going to be destroyed by corporate farming to build a dam. I decided that I would put it on canvas so that live on past progress. We have lived here for 20 years and had the gift of enjoying nature's wonder and been protected from the elements by this house.

"ALTERISM" A new form of expessionism ... John started painting in 1992. He is self taught and his goal was to become proficient in all media. After doing this he ended up with this new style in acrylics. After his cousin took him to Amsterdam and the Van Gogh museum in 2011 he was inspired to do his new style of over-saturating colours and cutting through the paint with the palette knife blending the layered colours randomly and creating a lot of movement. His style is unique as it combines abstract and realism to create an image that from a distance looks very detailed but close up looks chaotic. He calls his Style "Alterism" and is in the "Abstract Realism" genre. John has sold over well over 200 paintings of all the media
