About The Artwork

When I was a kid my maternal grand parents had the best gatherings. My grandfather and uncle would barbecue for hours. My grandmother and aunt baked. My mom made homemade barbecue sauce and cooked all kinds of vegetables. But the biggest treat for me was when my grandmother would drag out their large crank ice cream maker. That homemade ice cream was the best. This is a painting from my 2013 solo show - Think Pink: Remembering Liza. A tribute to my maternal grandmother who lost her battle with Breast Cancer. Title: Homemade Ice Cream Media: Acrylics on 24 x 48 Date: 2013 Remember colors may look slightly different in person.

Although I have drawn most of my life no one seemed to notice until I started to paint. I was off work for a year with a back injury and I started painting as a form of therapy. Painting gave me a sense of peace at a very difficult time. After ten years of painting and selling my work, I took my first painting class in 2005. My work can be found in private collections around the world. Visit my website at http://www.bettyandroserefour.com for locations to find my work. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources. It could be a piece of fabric, a structure, or a sunrise. The possibilities are endless. I am the caregiver for my sister Rose who has autism and is also an artist.
