This work is inspired by the myth of the veil of Véronique, that of the Holy Face, or the hypothetical portrait of Jesus Christ, from the writings of Jacques de Voragine, The Golden Legend, 13th centuries. The goal is to provide elements of a contemporary response to the controversy over the face of Christ. This is the first portrait in a series entitled "Iconoclastic Figure". This series will end at the end of the 40th canvas. I hope that these works will invite to meditate on oneself and on the world like a mirror. The execution procedure is the same as that of Renaissance painters. I take my models according to beauty trends. At the time, there was a global criterion defining the image of Christ. Today, there are many of us and we are part of a global dimension. One question summarizes the process: If the portrait were an imprint of the Divine Holy Face, what would the real “vera icon” be?
