About The Artwork
I started this painting with an orange background. I wanted to try to paint by my own after a workshop with Rolando Duarted. After a few hours painting, I did not like the result at all. So, I went sleeping, looked at the panting for some days and was not satisfied of what I was seeing. Then, one evening I said: "let me try to continue this and make it more beautiful". After a few hours I was surprised to see a new painting that was making me proud of. This, was the moment I realised, that I need to be more patient and give time to time and to myself. Sometimes, we need to put aside some work we have been doing, to see it with other eyes in another moment. My instinct many times tells me to hurry and to finish quick the process. Painting is giving birth to shapes and colours that have been in my mind ready to live on a canvas. This shapes and colours are fruit of my experiences, travels and observations of the streets of Berlin, Shanghai, Firenze, Roma and Zurich. Thanks to this painting, I have started being patient with myself, knowing that the beauty will come at the right time and that the beauty is a reflection of my state of mind and that is whiting myself, ready to come out in different stages and moments. It is a matter of taking time to be with myself and reflect my emotions and put it on a canvas. I am so grateful of what I have lived and seen in this three decades of life and I want to share it with my self-expression of my reality and the colors and shaped that are within myself.

Switzerland
Alejandra Abad was born in Ecuador and grew up in the Italian part of Switzerland. She has life and professional experiences in four continents and these countries have enriched her with multiple cultural perspectives and enabled her to learn several languages. She is a graduate from EHL Hospitality Business School and a professional in hospitality in Zurich, Switzerland. Since she was a child her call was to draw and paint. During the pandemic, she had more time to reflect and give weight to an important side of herself: the Artist. During this process, she met Rolando Duartes, a Cuban artist living in Switzerland, that saw her potential and started teaching her techniques and supporting her the development of her creativity with a holistic approach. She uses painting as a way to connect with her body, mind and heart. As a tool of self-discovery and self-awareness. She uses the influence of music and food in her creative process and uses them as a way to enter and stay in her creative flow. In her paintings you can see her Latin American roots but also the influence from her travels: the colours from street art and the shades and shapes from nature and food.
