About The Artwork
The models name is "Innocent", which seemed cosmically fitting given the student #feesmustfall protests of 2015 in South Africa. The fires of protest near my studio one night were ablaze with the frustrations of a generation scorned, where the wanton destruction stood in stark contrast with the joyful singing of marching students. Although temporal afflictions of South African society, I wondered about the future of the strikers, a generation of doctors & lawyers proficient at lighting fires and throwing bricks.
