About The Artwork
This expressive conceptual art piece was inspired by the artist questioning boundaries of freedom in relation to the predominant systems within our society that do not support equality and encroach on people's basic human rights. It's a play on the idea of being placed inside a world of boundaries while trying to escape limitations. The figure may appear to struggle against something closing in, or may be in a sort of mental womb breaking out into the birth of a new idea or consciousness. I generally felt to express our universal desire to become who we want to be, transcending and breaking free from the Box of restrictive situations in our lives. However, I encourage the viewer to make your own interpretations.
