INTO THE SHADOWS II Print

Into the Shadows II, is the 2nd mixed media painting of my upcoming series "Shadow Works", and it's a self-portrait. I am an art therapist and a lightworker that works on her shadows through art and this new series aim to connect the viewers with their emotional internal state, an awakening process of what lays deep down in all of us, emotions so strong that we try to avoid, we find ways to numb the feelings and in the end, the only way out is through... These paintings are emotional landscapes to focus and meditate on, to stay and hold on for a brief second and remember that is ok to feel and that when we feel we're safer than when we embark on an avoidant journey of self-destructive behaviors. The main subject evokes a particular emotion and the figures present in each painting represent the existence of "the others" and their presence in our lives, they also represent the shadows of our human aspect, the ones that are always keeping us company and waiting for us to acknowledge their existence consciously.
