About The Artwork

In Greek mythology, Iris was the goddess of the rainbow and communication (as a messenger of the gods). My "Iris" is a minimalist (in approximation) abstract (in visualization) rendering of the idea of a deconstructed spectrum of light. An exuberant composition of linear colors, erasing seemingly random curved trajectories. Clean, seamless, intact lines cross each other, creating fleeting connections. To continue .... They have left the rainbow, free now to chart their own course in time. And sometimes they get a little different from each other as they continue their endless journey to infinity.

Welcome to my studio. I am Paraskevi - a Greek woman, architect and visual artist. Through years of artistic exploration, I have developed a distinctive personal process, resulting to the creation of a unique visual language that invites the viewer into a metaphysical aesthetic experience. Using various sources of inspiration, spanning from Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting to Minimalism and Arte Povera, I engineer a perception as well as an allegory of space by combining continuous lines with abundant color. My body of work consists of perplex compositions created from gestural brushstrokes and a primarily intuitive process. In these paintings the lines are dominant but there is no intention for structure. Via the mapping of the lines, the colors themselves are transformed into the structural part of my artworks. This is my signature style and I invite you to explore it with me.
