About The Artwork
The painting depicts a sorrowful bride, adorned with south asian elements that are meant to be colorful and loud, depicting happiness and joy but the irony is very evident here as one can look at her expressions and understand that she isn't quite happy. It seems as if her fate is being decided at the hands of the society and she's not the one taking that decision for herself. As an artist, I tend to tell stories of characters residing only in my imaginations but I can't deny that there are actually people out there that feel as claustrophobic as her, bound by the society and people around.
