About The Artwork

A colloboration with Renee Berthelette, Isobaric Equilibrium is the last of the Aqueous Isolation series. Aqueous Isolations is a visual timeline of the artists’ lives through the pandemic: from the blissful shroud of ignorance, to the frantic realization of a capsized world, to the intensity of solitude. The series is a map of human experience, charted in brushstrokes, vacillating between poles of hope and despair, frustration and focus. It is a glimpse into the microcosm of collaboration in isolation and the globally shared experience of looking within to see further out.

Claire Townsend is a multimedia artist based in New York City, where she makes work inspired by a profound sense of awe for the ocean, making beautiful seacapes and landscapes devoid of life, often using recyled plastic sequins and beads from her work as a costume designer, drawing attention to microplastics and how they have impacted and will continue to disrupt nature.
