About The Artwork

Every Saturday for the past 31 years, Floyd has played a round of 18 and Eleanor has vacuumed the goddamned carpet. During these intense times, I like to create works that lift the mood into simple humor. As the viewer looks around the composition, and takes the title and subtitle into account, I hope there is a lot to chuckle about. I used my flat style, along with bold color and outlines to highlight the light-hearted theme of this painting. This piece's edge is painted red. Hanging hardware is installed.

Joselyn paints in a contemporary, flat style, utilizing bold color to render her uplifting subjects. Her compositions are playful, often including an unexpected element, unique juxtaposition, or unconventional use of scale. Raised in an artistic, modern design-centered family, Joselyn was highly influenced by her father, a noted architect, in her pursuit of creative outlets. In 2012, Joselyn survived two life-threatening illnesses, thanks to a bone marrow transplant from her brother and a relentless sense of humor. She emerged with a new-found desire to simplify life and create works that spark a smile.
