Johannesburg by night the view from the aeroplane Print

Well this is probably one of the more experimental techniques I've used. I was flying into Johannesburg when i looked out the window and was mesmerized by the night view of the city. I was thinking the whole time, "I need to keep my eyes wide so i can capture this in my mind and remember it so i can somehow make a painting of it!" when it came to putting it on canvas, I was sitting in an art class. the people around me all thought i was rather silly painting layers of bright colours all over the canvas and then covering the whole thing with dark shades. It looked like a child's work so I don't blame them. I then began scratching into the wet paint with a screw and slowly the city began to emerge in front of me. They were just as surprised as I was at the outcome!
