This piece is one of several that make up my ongoing series of portraits featuring bisexual individuals. The series 'Bi-Erasure' aims to combat the invisibility and biphobia experienced by many bi people both inside and outside of queer spaces. Each work is accompanied by text written by the subject, in an effort to amplify the voices of bi folks. Jonathan's text: I realised that I was bi long after I’d found the love of my life. It was easy to tell myself, but telling others? I haven’t found it hard. I haven’t really done it. I wonder if knowing would change their view of me, that somehow my love is less stable. What’s the difference to them? ​These questions I can’t answer until I can answer one to myself. ​Why do I think this?
