Urban abstraction. Inspired by Italian terracotta mixed up with a Berlin Kreuzberg ambiance. Hand-painted abstract fine art. With a color palette of rust and terracotta tones on a rough concrete surface. Sophie Mangelsen‘s informal art appeals to introspection and evokes a both inner and outer dialogue with the viewer. In its combination of a vibrant and warm palette combined with the energy of bold brush and spate strokes on a rough surface of concrete, it embraces a dialogue towards mindfulness and calm and an urban decor. _________________________________________________ Signed, dated on the front and back, colored entirely on the edges and ready to hang. Sophie Mangelsen creates her very own and characteristically gestural abstractions, giving them her very personal touch of elegance, rhythm and finesse, all in a Berlin understatement vibe. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes an inner and outer dialogue with the viewer - posing questions about consciousness and unconsciousness, harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - to inner landscapes of the complexity of our mind. Sophie Mangelsen, from Berlin, is additionally inspired on her journey by her experience as a psychologist and therapist. She studied at the Université Paris VIII and the University of Leipzig and found her form of expression in painting already in her youth. Her paintings are shown at international exhibitions and are in private collections around the world. In 2022 she was invited as a jury member in the international competition of BALTHASART. The artist lives in Berlin Kreuzberg.
