My painting 'Kaali' is inspired from the the Nepalese poem 'Kaali' penned by youth poet Ujjwala Maharjan. The poem deals with harassment of women in public spaces and even in daily professional life, which is quite common in Nepal and South Asia at large. The painting lends the verses from the original poem and translates into colours and strokes that express the social revolt voices by the poem against harassment, thereby relating the strength with that of Kaali - the Hindu Goddess of power. The painting was first exhibited in my solo exhibition titled '#HyooJaLaa - The Fire of Change' held 16th-18th April 2019 in Classic Gallery, Chakupat, Lalitpur, Nepal.
