About The Artwork

This time it is my sons sketch of a Dunkleosteus. The layering of realities in my experience as a parent. I paint to find my joy. It is my privilege of parenting, looking into his fertile imagination. I relish his world. It is again a memory. We did all go to the beach together, the horses and the kids and me. The kids played with sand castles and seaweed. Years later we talked about that time and the kids didn’t remember that there were horses there. These paintings are of my family life. The collective conscientious of the tree of us, and how our reality is somewhere within these parallel worlds.

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Born in London, she graduated with a BA(honors) in Fine Art from Central St Martins College in 2001. Her paintings are landscapes of personal interaction; poems to the love of line. Working with non-linguistic communication such gesture, body language, lingering looks and gossip. Her work is anthropological and personal, ponderings on the great themes of life, love and leisure. AKA Amelia Bernays Pitti (what systemic sexism?)
