ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Kintsugi - to join with gold, 2023. A Japanese tradition where broken ceramics are repaired with gold powder to highlight the imperfections as history rather than flaws. Inspired by this technique, I placed gold leaf on parts of the painting that felt imperfect to me. Additionally, each color has a different texture. Black feels coarse while white is smooth. The gold has its own silkiness. Close your eyes and run fingers across the painting. You can tell the color just by the feel of it.
